Fanatics Expands Event Horizon, Topps Doubles Down on Promos

In a move to redefine the world of fandom, sports event and retail giant Fanatics is notching up its game, rolling out a whole new roster of nationwide events. The announcement came alongside Topps’ revamp of its collector promotions at the Topps Industry Conference in Atlanta, giving fans and collectors alike much to look forward to in the coming months.

Stepping into the limelight is Fanatics’ much-anticipated flagship event: the FanaticsFest. Expected to weave a dazzling tapestry of fandom, culture, and collecting, this extravaganza is set to grace the New York’s Javits Center from August 16 to 18. Escalating its efforts to captivate fans on a more regional note, Fanatics is set to hold another event centered around collectibles in Orlando, Florida, spanning the days from November 1 to 3. Featuring autograph sessions with local athletes, this gathering provides a more personalized fan experience.

These events reflect Fanatics’ overarching strategy: to provide a variety of experiences through large-scale gatherings, regional shows, stadium-specific events, and collaborations with major sports leagues during events like drafts. Although the finer details are yet to be released, these announcements offer a tantalizing glimpse into what’s in store for the future of fan events.

Drawing parallel lines in the promotion world, Topps has an array of engaging activities ready to thrill dedicated collectors. Quick off the mark is Trading Card Day, resurrected on August 3 and offering free exclusive packs at participating hobby shops.

Meanwhile, like a much-loved show returning for a new season, the MLB MVP Buyback program is making a comeback this fall. This allows savvy collectors to exchange cards featuring recent MLB MVPs for more valuable store credits.

Riding on the wave of last year’s success, the Hobby Rip Night, which resulted in a significant spike in sales for 18% of the participating stores, is primed for its second edition on September 14. Not to rest on its laurels, Topps is also introducing a brand-new initiative – the Hobby Break Night. Scheduled for December 14, this online event promises live case, box, and pack openings, spiced up with guest appearances and giveaways.

In essence, both Fanatics and Topps are gearing up for some exciting times ahead.
