This nefarious scheme came to light thanks to the diligence of Columbia City Mayor Ryan Daniel, who flagged suspicious financial transactions in March 2023, sparking an extensive investigation spearheaded by the Whitley County Prosecutor’s Office, Indiana State Police, and the Indiana State Board of Accounts.
As the investigation unfolded, it was discovered that Green had utilized the city’s credit card to make extravagant purchases from ‘Sport Spot,’ most notably splurging on a staggering $246,000 worth of baseball cards.
